Madame Micebook is incoming to the perennial C&I jewel that hasn’t lost any of its sparkle…
South Africa has long been a top choice for incentive and conference planners alike, and Cape Town’s allure shows no sign of dimming as its cultural star continues to ascend. The launch of the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, located on the V&A Waterfront, coupled with opening last year of the stylish Norval Foundation has further added to the destination’s attractions making this the perfect place for Madame Micebook and friends to settle in for a chic long weekend away.
Befitting the arts theme of the weekend, she’ll be checking in to Cape Town’s very first Design Hotels property – cheekily named Gorgeous George. And indeed the new boutique property, which opened in April, is a proper head-turner of a retreat, set on the pretty tree-lined avenue between St. George’s Mall and Green Market Square, with Art Deco touches contrasting with exposed walls and metalworks. The 32 rooms are complemented by a rooftop bar and pool plus an event and art space.
Madame Micebook will also be taking a peek at Cape Town’s latest lifestyle hotel, Labotessa (main image above). Once a 17th-century congregational church and one of the oldest buildings in the country, the property has been transformed in to a seven-roomed hotel, and each suite features private elevator access, a balcony and sweeping views out across Lion’s Head and Table Mountain.
The final stop on this tour will be Bantry Bay where the beautiful Ellerman House offers a grand mansion-style welcome and a collection of South African art to rival many a gallery.
