A chromotherapy hammam and Epsom salt room with salt infusion make for complete detox and relaxation, whilst therapies on offer range from ozone therapy and osteopathy to dental detox and reshaping treatments. Originally due to open in 2018, the Melia Lisboa Hotel will be the group’s first five-star in Portugal when it finally makes its debut, now expected sometime in 2019. The property will offer 239 rooms, a 24-hour restaurant and a panoramic lounge-bar on the upper terrace with stunning views of the city. Targeting the growing “bleisure” market, the hotel will provide everything needed by guests visiting Lisbon for a combination of business travel and leisure. This includes facilities for conferences and conventions for between 50 and 550 people and a health club and Yhi Spa, the Meliá hotels’ Spa brand.
Latin-American hospitality brand Selina made its debut in Porto in October – the first of a number of properties set to launch throughout Portugal. Curated by local artists and creatives, the 60-room property combines beautifully-designed accommodations with co-work facilities, wellness, and cultural programming driven by local art, food, design and music. Selina’s communal spaces are designed to bring the local community together with travellers from all over the world, with live concerts, art exhibitions, thematic dinners, DJ performances and more on the agenda. A second Selina property is scheduled to open in Porto by the end of 2020, with hotels also planned for Lisbon and Algarve.
